Ri Shi by Egidio Panzera

The concept of the Ri Shi handle, solar eclipse in Chinese, finds its roots in the idea to create a correlation between the form of the handle and the new soft rebound mechanism, making that relationship clear and evident. Movement, Curiosity, Colour, Surprise, Silence, Anticipation; all words that describe an eclipse. When opening the door, the handle tilts downward, gliding with an off-centre rotating motion, rapidly unveiling a different material, a colour, a surprise. The geometry changes; the aesthetic changes. Releasing the handle, there is the eclipse, silent and slow.
